DEAR PRESIDENT OBAMA

After watching Datelines Special Friday WINDS OF WAR: GEORGE CLOONEY IN SUDAN" giving an account of Clooney:CO-FOUNDER OF NOT ON OUR WATCH  & his mission to prevent more war in the Sudan I started tweeting & posting alerts on facebook about this crisis to encourage people to go to CLOONEY'S SITE and to sign the PETITION that  "urges you Mr President, to take steps towards creating real peace in Sudan."
Several people contacted  me today asking me why I thought the United States should help DARFUR?The need to explain my position as to why I think  prevention  of mass murder is a worthy cause , I found disturbing at best. The worlds priorities are upside down to be sure. All  peoples  right to  kindness decency and protection from  unspeakable cruelty should be at the top of everyones list. But tragically it is not.
I believe any time we have an opportunity to prevent a war before it starts especially one that carries an eminent threat of impending genocide to hundreds of thousands of innocent people we should do so, without question. That we may be able to stop this atrocity from happening by turning the worlds eyes  to this troubled region as CLOONEY has and continues to spend tremendous time and effort in doing just that, then YES of course we should do everything we can globally to support him in his efforts with every means at our disposal and as quickly as possible.
Why anyone would question the wisdom, compassion or justification of working to save the lives of these precious people only strengthens my resolve to do absolutely everything within my power to Support GEORGE CLOONEY JOHN PRENDERGAST: CO -FOUNDER OF THE ENOUGH PROJECTand anyone else who works for peace.Clooney's extraordinary unwavering dedication to STOP  A WAR  before it starts is motivating the masses  and that movement grows exponentially every day.
President Obama,  I trust you and  that you will do everything within your power to bring a peaceful resolution to this most volatile crisis. For those of you who have yet to join in this effort for peace I certainly encourage you to join us and humbly request that you ask the rest of the world to do the same.
Thank you for the time and consideration you have given to read this. I remain with highest regard for you wishing you supreme success in all  endeavors you continue to work toward in behalf of us and for all of us.

Jeannie Hartley
SIGN THIS PETITION PLEASE.

DEAR Family and Friends

I tweet in support of George Clooney: Co Founder of NotOnOurWatch.Org John Prendergast Co Founder: EnoughProject.Org  & others whose efforts strive to keep peace in Sudan because I believe that Clooney's concept of stopping the war before it starts is an extraordinarly brilliant, uniquely innovative and critically needed idea.
As Clooney & Prendergast have made clear, both time and opportunity are running out for us to do what is necessary to bring about the possibility of realizing this effort to keep peace and prevent mass violence there in this troubled region.
I am against injustice, mistreatment, oppression, persecution and genocide anywhere in the world but see that there is an urgent need and unique opportunity  to do something for Sudan right now.
As I have stated in the past neither George Clooney his organization NotOnOurWatch.org or John Prendergast or his EnoughProject.Org or any other individual or organization has asked me to do this nor have they endorsed my actions. I alone am responsible for my opinions, tweets, petition circulations website postings etc. . While neither Clooney or Prendergast are responsible, both have motivated me by their remarkable devotion to help the lives of so many and Clooney in particular has certainly inspired me to do more then to just watch depressing accounts that bring me to tears every time I turn on the news.
I recognize the great efforts of what they are trying to accomplish and wanted to help them So I wrote President Obama,  see letter to right of this page, signed petitions started tweeting and posting same information regarding Sudan Referendum and other human rights concerns on facebook.
How many thousands of wars have taken place throughout the course of history where the opportunity to prevent violence was not taken or conflict  seemed unavoidable?  How many millions of precious innocent lives have been lost at the hands of immeasurable destruction & genocide over and over again?
How much more oppression, persecution rape, murder, mutilation & atrocity does it take before we find enough courage, integrity & desire inside ourselves sufficient enough to get us up off our  couches take true initiative & say we have to do something about this before it happens again?
What is going on? How far off the track have our priorities in life run? How long do we stay on this road of dispassion and desensitization where we ignore constant violence and continiously  turn our heads and look the other way?
Our economy in shambles is no secret to anyone but if you want to see part of the financial vacuum in action that draws us deeper in to debt click on the Cost of War
Right or wrong practical or unrealistic It's hard for me to comprehend why everyone is not talking about this, why everyone is not doing something about this because I cannot stop thinking about this, or talking about this.
I am tired of feeling this abyssmal sadness and devastation at the sight of needless abominable cruelty, unacceptable violence and outrageous destruction of precious human life and buying into the powerlessness that is born of believing that there's nothing I can do about it.
Aren't you?
If it happens in our own back yard or on the other side of the world it is equally important. All people are our people and each individual deserves happiness, health, love prosperity, peace success, protection and a chance to live a quality of life without constant oppression and fear.  Don't  you agree?
How many times in our lives have we heard about these horrible crimes, read or watched accounts of  them only to feel complete helplessness & heartbreak because we believed  that there was nothing we could do to prevent these tragedies?Don't you think that it is time that we as a community as a people, as a nation & as world united put aside all of the things that do not matter & grew up?
I do not believe that there is anything more important for us to do on this planet right now then to everything we can within our power to try & save the lives of the innocent millions of people who now face great peril in Sudan.
What George Clooney, John Prendergast, Don Cheadle, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Nick Kristof, Jon Hutson, Jerry Weintraub, Tim Freccia & others are doing to stop this war is unprecedented.
This satellite technology most aptly referred to by George Clooney as his "Anti-Genocide Paparazzi"
http://www.satsentinel.org/ has never been done before.
This is a critical turning point in the history of our world that unfolds before us now in this moment as you are reading, There is danger increasing hourly for the people in Sudan. The Sudanese vote for seceding on January 9th may in all likelihood  bring Civil war. Thats one week from today.
We stand before the brink of  changing the course of humanity in this moment from one that is violent into one that has a chance to find, maintain and implement peace before a war begins.
Give me one good reason why you should not stop what you're doing right now & take immediate action to prevent a war from starting. If you agree with me and you want to do something about this then go to this link. right now

LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA RE: LIBYA
UNITED NATIONS FEB 22, 2011
Dear President Obama:

I spoke with your comment line this morning and it was recommended to me to write you. Along with a very small handful of other human rights activists I have been tweeting emergency first aid instructions for weeks now first to Egypt, then Bahrain and now Libya. There are extraordinary brave people that risk their lives to do this. These tweets have been translated into farsi, arabic, Egpytian, french etc.
Today along with Libya we are now tweeting to New Zealand as well since  the devastation of the earthquake there in Christ Church. In the last few days I have seen many desperate pleas in tweet form for help from Libya for BLOOD, BANDAGES, SYRINGES, SALINE MEDICATION, in particular PAIN KILLERS as the hospitals many of them have run out of these gravely needed supplies. I spoke with the information line at the United Nations the State Dept and WHO and finally the ICRC who assured me the Libyan Red Crescent Branch is doing all they can to accomodate this growing need as the massacre of Gaddafi spreads.
Many of the tweets I have seen depict this blood bath in far greater horrific detail than what I am seeing on CNN. One witness described the horro of seeing soldiers lining up doctors against the wall and executing them. I hope with all my heart that the United Nations complete lack of action on Rwanda, Darfur and Bosnia will not be repeated in Libya, Sudan, Iran, Yemen and elsewhere.
You have the hardest job in the world. I do not envy you that . But I believe in your integrity, heart, brilliance and dedication to this country and to this world. For this reason I am thanking you in advance for not allowing Libya or anywhere else to be a repeat atrocity of similarity to Rwanda. People are tweeting us with requests to human rights activists and consequently we receive updates all the time. The need grows greater as the cruelty of Gaddafi is mass killing continues.
I cant stop crying and  I cant put into words the agony I feel for people being oppressed, abused, terrorized, raped beaten mutilated and killed. This is on my mind all the time. When I am finished with work all I can think of is getting back on my cell phone to tweet help to whereever and whenever I can. I know you share this depth of concern.
I am trusting you will do the right thing. Please dont wait, Mr. President. Former President Bill Clinton has said more than once that his lack of action on Rwanda has always been a deep regret. Please hear that heartbreak. I am sure he will support you in taking action to stop this blood bath as will millions of others around the globe share the same disgust with Gaddafis despicable blood bath.
Thank you for your time to read my letter if this actually makes its way to your desk. I realize that that decision lies in the hand of the person who is proof reading my letter right now.
My twitter screen name is @Jeannie_Hartley Timeline will show the first aid tweets I speak of.

With highest regard,
Jeannie Hartley

PLEA FOR SUDAN 3/8/11 PRESIDENT OBAMA
Dear President Obama
:
This matters to me far more that I can find new ways to state my convictions and for this reason I confess much of this letter is in repeat of what I sent you on  January 2nd 2011 but everything I stated then is true now and still conveys why your doing everything you can to stop this violence in Sudan is so very important to me. I tweet in support of George Clooney: Co Founder of NotOnOurWatch.Org John Prendergast Co Founder: EnoughProject.Org  & others whose efforts strive to keep peace in Sudan because I believe that Clooney's concept of stopping the war before it starts was and still is an extraordinarly brilliant, uniquely innovative and critically needed idea.
Since I wrote you last on Feb 22nd regarding my request for  the United Nations to intervene in Libya I have continued tweeting emergency first aid along with a handful of others to Egypt, Bahrain, Libya , Tunisia, Yemen and Tripoli. I am in the process of researching how we can translate this information into the needed languages for Sudan. The death and destruction of innocent lives must be stopped in Sudan and everywhere. This MUST BECOME OUR PRIORITY. There is nothing more important than this to me now. I think about this every waking hour, believe me.
As Clooney & Prendergast have made clear, both time and opportunity are now certainly running out for us to do what is necessary to bring about the possibility of realizing this effort to prevent ANY MORE mass violence there in this troubled region. As Cloony and Prendergast have stated in their most recent letter Our worst fears are being realized."I am against injustice, mistreatment, oppression, persecution and genocide anywhere in the world but see that there is an urgent need and unique opportunity  to do something for Sudan right now.
While neither Clooney or Prendergast are responsible, both have motivated me by their remarkable devotion to help the lives of so many and Clooney in particular has certainly inspired me to do more then to just watch depressing accounts that bring me to tears every time I turn on the news.
I recognize the great efforts of what they are trying to accomplish and more than ever before want to help them in any way I can.How many thousands of wars have taken place throughout the course of history where the opportunity to prevent violence was not taken or conflict  seemed unavoidable?  How many millions of precious innocent lives have been lost at the hands of immeasurable destruction & genocide over and over again?
How much more oppression, persecution rape, murder, mutilation & atrocity does it take before we find enough courage, integrity & desire inside ourselves sufficient enough to get us up off our  couches take true initiative & say we have to do something about this before it happens again and again and again?
What is going on? How far off the track have our priorities in life run? How long do we stay on this road of dispassion and desensitization where we ignore constant violence and continiously  turn our heads and look the other way? A huge portion of problems existing within the economic crisis we now face is definitely the COST OF WAR It is the greatest financial, physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual drain of all. As this problem in  Sudan multiplies each hour we waste with inaction will translate into a much higher cost in every way later on down the road. We know this is true.
Right or wrong practical or unrealistic It's hard for me to comprehend why everyone is not talking about this, why everyone is not doing something about this because I cannot stop thinking about this, or talking about this.I really cant. My friends in life are tired of hearing my pleas. The human rights workers I have met on twitter are a life saver and a God send to me. I honestly dont know what I would do without the support system of these amazing brave people who stand up for human rights every day, all over the world so many risking their lives to do so simply by tweeting a human rights watch update.
I  am so very tired of feeling this abyssmal sadness and devastation at the sight of needless abominable cruelty, unacceptable violence and outrageous destruction of precious human life and buying into the powerlessness that is born of believing that there's nothing I can do about it. So I tweet for global human rights now  every day when ever I can.
If it happens in our own back yard or on the other side of the world it is equally important equally germaine an equally tragic All people are our people and each individual deserves happiness, health, love prosperity, peace success, protection and a chance to live a quality of life without constant oppression and fear.  I know Mr. President you agree with me on this. if I did not believe that were the case,  I would have taken the time to write this letter.
How many times in our lives have we heard about these horrible crimes, read or watched accounts of  them only to feel complete helplessness & heartbreak because we believed  that there was nothing we could do to prevent these tragedies? Don't you think that it is time that we as a community as a people, as a nation & as world united put aside all of the things that do not matter & grew up? I do not believe that there is anything more important for us to do on this planet right now then to everything we can within our power to try & save the lives of the innocent millions of people who now face great peril in Sudan. I  have already stated my pleas for a no fly zone to be in put in place for Libya to you in other petitions and for the grave atrocities and gross humanrights violations occurring there and in other parts of the Middle East.
What George Clooney, John Prendergast, Don Cheadle, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Nick Kristof, Jon Hutson, Jerry Weintraub, Tim Freccia & others have been working for so long and hard to prevent  this war is unprecedented. Please do not let there efforts or those of millions more be in vain. PLEASE.
This satellite technology most aptly referred to by George Clooney as his "Anti-Genocide Paparazzi"
http://www.satsentinel.org/ has never been done before. It is now shining a tremendous light on these atrocities that we cannot ignore.
This is a critical turning point in the history of our world that unfolds before us now in this moment as you are reading, There is danger increasing hourly for people in Sudan. More will be killed before this complex problem is resolved. Tragically with great sorrow I type those words because I know how true they are.
The Sudanese vote for seceding that took place on January 9th may surely bring the Civil war  we feared This devastation that we wanted so much to avoid is here now. We cannot wait.
Egypt. Libya, Bahrain, Iran, Yemen, Tunisia, Tripoli, Sudan and else where...The planet is witnessing enormous change at great sacrifice by thousands. We stand before the brink of changing the course of humanity in this moment from one that is violent into one that has a chance to find, maintain and implement peace. We have enough war. Far far too much war.
Give me one good reason why any of us should not stop what we are doing right now & take immediate action to prevent any war thats already started from growing even worse. The recent gruesome cruelty in Abei is proof of the extreme urgency to take action. Please Mr. President dont let this continue this abominable death and mass destruction that will spread like wild fire if we dont stop it For George, For John, For all those human rights workers I mentioned for all those people paying now with theitr lives dont let ..these efforts be in vain, please.
I remain with highest regard for you, Mr. president
